Zegen, a theater major at ´óÏóÊÓƵ, stars as Midge Maisel's (Rachel Brosnahan) wearisome husband and aspiring comic Joel Maisel who, as fans of the show know, turns out to be nowhere near as marvelous as she.

While Zegen plays a hopeful comic in the show, in real life he's has been honing his comedic skills since his time at ´óÏóÊÓƵ, where he co-founded the sketch comedy group The Sketchies and performed in the , founded in 1989 by another alum, David Miner '91 (Parks and Recreation, 30 Rock, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Master of None).

In , Zegen shared that "I've always been acting. Since I was a little kid, I've always wanted to be an actor." Today, there's no doubt he's made those dreams come true.
